About Crossroad Church
We value:
Biblical theology
Theology is the study of God and how we relate to Him. God reveals Himself and His Gospel through His Word, the Bible. Thus, our teaching and preaching are Bible-centered and we encourage personal Bible study (2 Timothy 2:15; 3:16-17).
Expository preaching
Our pastor’s responsibility is to declare the whole counsel of God, verse by verse, as revealed by God in His Word. Our congregation is to listen to, study and learn from God’s Word through our pastor’s expository preaching (2 Timothy 3:16-4:2).
Instruction for people of all ages
God gives some Christians a spiritual gift of teaching the Bible. Bible teaching is for all followers of Christ -- children and adults -- so that we can grow into mature Christians (Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Ephesians 4:11-16; Colossians 1:28).
God-honoring worship
Worship is our delight and our duty, our proper response to our Most High God. As Christians, we are commanded to glorify God in everything we do. Worship, therefore, is not just what we do together on Sunday (Romans 12:1-2; Revelation 4:11).
Corporate worship takes place when we as a church body come together to worship our infinitely glorious sovereign God and Savior. Our corporate worship must be focused solely on exalting God, not on creating a religious experience.
Prayer
Prayer is talking to God. “His servants praise Him for what He is, thank Him for what He has done, desire Him to increase in glory through continuing acts of mercy, judgment, and power, and trust Him with their prayers for their own and others’ well-being”* (Ephesians 6:18; Philippians 4:6-7).
Personal holiness
God is holy, and He has commanded us to be holy as well (1 Peter 1:15-16). We cannot please or obey God in our own strength, but God helps us to trust and obey Him (Philippians 2:12-13; Hebrews 13:20-21).
Evangelism
Evangelism is telling others about the Gospel of Christ and inviting them to repent and believe. Biblical evangelism is motivated by love for God and concern for His glory, and love for people and concern for their welfare (Psalm 96:2, 1 John 4:9-11). Biblical salvation is by grace alone through faith alone, all a gift from God. (Eph. 2:4-5, 8-9).
Biblical fellowship
Fellowship involves relationships; it is not an activity. As followers of Christ, we share our lives together, serving and honoring each other. We encourage each other to follow God more closely (Proverbs 27:17; Hebrews 10:24-25). Each believer is important to the body, equal in value but unique in spiritual gifts. According to the Bible, all believers should exercise their spiritual gifts to build up others to the glory of God (1 Corinthians 12:4-7).
Godly families
God has ordained the family as the primary place where children are to be trained to follow Christ through parental teaching and example (Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Ephesians 5:22-30; Colossians 3:18-21).
